Tennessee football will debut an all-white look for its first road game of the 2026 season.
The No. 18 Volunteers (1-0) will wear white helmets, jerseys and pants when they travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech (0-1) on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. ET. The matchup at Bobby Dodd Stadium will be broadcast on ESPN, with Tennessee announcing its uniform choice on Sept. 10.
The Vols’ new adidas uniforms will also feature a jersey patch recognizing First Horizon Bank as a sponsor. The partnership, announced Sept. 1, extends to Tennessee’s Olympic sports as well and is valued at more than $12 million annually for UT athletics.
What was Tennessee’s record in each uniform combination during the 2025 season?
UT opened the 2026 season with a 1-0 record after wearing its traditional home uniform combination of white helmets, orange jerseys and white pants in a dominant 56-9 victory over Furman in Week 1. The Vols posted a 3-2 record in the same uniform combination during the 2025 season.
The Vols opened the season with a 45-26 victory over Syracuse in Atlanta, followed by a dominant 72-17 win over ETSU in Week 2. They also edged Arkansas 34-31 on Oct. 11. However, Tennessee suffered a 44-41 overtime loss to Georgia on Sept. 13 and later fell 45-24 to Vanderbilt on Nov. 29, with both defeats coming at Neyland Stadium.
Tennessee also picked up wins over UAB (56-24) on Sept. 20 and Mississippi State (41-34) in overtime on Sept. 27 while sporting its “orange britches” combination, featuring orange jerseys and pants.
The Vols went 2-2 in games wearing all-white uniforms. They defeated Kentucky 56-34 on Oct. 25 and Florida 31-11 on Nov. 22, but lost 37-20 to Alabama in the Third Saturday of October matchup on Oct. 18 and suffered a bowl defeat to Illinois in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.
Tennessee split its two games in the “dark mode” uniforms, losing at home to Oklahoma on Nov. 1 before bouncing back with a convincing 42-9 victory over New Mexico State on Nov. 15.
What alternate uniforms will Tennessee wear this season?
UT unveiled a new version of its “Smokey Grey” uniforms on Aug. 20, paying tribute to the 100th anniversary of Gen. Robert Neyland’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach. The Vols are scheduled to debut the grey uniforms Oct. 3 against Auburn.
Although it won’t technically be an alternate uniform, Tennessee is also bringing a unique throwback element to this year’s Third Saturday in October rivalry game. The Vols will wear orange while Alabama will wear crimson in each of the teams’ next two meetings. Their Oct. 17, 2026 matchup will mark the first time since 1970 that the rivals have faced each other in a color-on-color game.
