LSU football starting quarterback Sam Leavitt has been listed as doubtful for an undisclosed injury ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated game against Ole Miss.
Leavitt was officially declared as doubtful on Wednesday’s injury report. Leavitt led the Tigers to victory in their first two games of the season against Clemson and Louisiana Tech. He entered 2026 as one of college football’s best transfers after his time playing for Arizona State University before transferring to LSU to play for Kiffin.
In their upcoming game against Ole Miss, the Tigers have been given a slight edge. However, with just days until the highly anticipated game, LSU shocked fans and opponents alike by listing one of its most notable players on the roster as doubtful.
Leavitt was not known to have any injuries following Saturday’s game against LA Tech. He interacted with reporters after the game without any notice of pain, but On3 reported following the injury report that Leavitt has been dealing with soreness in his throwing shoulder.
WIth the listing coming just days before the Ole Miss game, speculation exists online that the report is a strategic move by head coach Lane Kiffin to bring chaos to Ole Miss’s gameplan.
There are several punishments by the SEC for listing an uninjured player as doubtful, including a monetary fine of up to $100,000. There are also penalties for head and assistant coaches involved.
If Leavitt is unable to play, he’s to be replaced by either Landen Clark or Husan Longstreet.
With Leavitt’s involvement in Saturday’s game unknown, the college football world is forced to wait until the Tigers and the Rebels meet in Oxford to know who will lead the Tigers offense.
