Patrick Mahomes reacts to teammate Harrison Butker’s controversial speech

Regarding his teammate Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs’ contentious graduation speech, Patrick Mahomes is speaking out.

In case you missed it, the 28-year-old kicker made remarks against working women, the LGBTQ+ community, abortion rights, and even cited Taylor Swift during her graduating speech at Benedictine College. All of these remarks attracted harsh condemnation on the internet.

In an interview with the media on Wednesday, May 22, in Kansas City, Missouri, Patrick supported his teammate’s moral character and spoke up for Harrison.

“I am familiar with Harrison. Patrick told reporters, via ET, “I’ve known Harrison for seven years, and I judge him by the character that he shows every single day and that’s a good person.” That person is someone who wants to have a positive influence on society, cares about his family, and is concerned about the people around him.

He went on to say that despite respecting the opinions of others, it’s critical for a team to have a variety of viewpoints.

The quarterback stated, “There are a lot of people from a lot of different areas of life when you’re in the locker room.” “I understand the person he is and his efforts to guide people in the right direction, even though there are certain things he said that I don’t necessarily agree with.”

Patrick went on, “And that might not be the same values I have.” “Yet, I will evaluate him based on the character he exhibits on a daily basis, which is that of a wonderful person,”
