Nebraska has added another from the portal with a commitment from Taj DeGourville.
The 6-5, 211-pound shooting guard previously was at San Diego State, where he averaged 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this past season. Originally from Las Vegas, he played around 19 minutes per game over the past two years for the Aztecs.
Set to be a third-year junior, he had six games in double figures for San Diego State this past season, including 12 points as a season high against Utah State on Feb. 25 that he also coupled with eight assists.

DeGourville was No. 7 in the Mountain West in assist-to-turnover ratio and 12th in assists. He also had 27 steals on the season. Having started five games this past season, he shot 37.1 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from behind the arc (19-of-55) while going 65.5 percent at the line.
DeGourville was the No. 150 overall in the class of 2024 as a high school recruit when he committed to the Aztecs. At the time he chose them over Oklahoma, UNLV, Iowa, USC and VCU, among others.
“I’ll be working on being able to score in more variety of ways whether that’s off the dribble, off the catch, getting quicker vertically, horizontally, or getting better defensively,” he told 247Sports as he began his college career.
As a portal prospect he is ranked No. 236 among all players and 47th on the list of shooting guards. He has a portal player of 88, according to 247Sports. Another visit he took during the portal cycle that was reported was to Saint Mary’s
According to KenPom, DeGourville ranked 173rd nationally in assist rate and 451st in steal percentage while on the court.
With the addition Nebraska now has two roster spots available, having already added Sam Orme (Belmont), Trevan Leonhardt (Utah Valley), Boden Kapke (Boston College) and Kadyn Betts (Utah).
Husker coach Fred Hoiberg spoke during Nebraska’s March Madness run of believing the system would offer a lot of portal appeal to prospects.
“I think the system and the style that we play, if you’re a skilled big, it’s a great system for you. It’s a great – if you can shoot the basketball, you see what Pryce is doing in our system this year, and Braden, and multi-skilled players,” Hoiberg said then. “Yeah, I mean, when everything opens up and we try to reconstruct the roster, we’ll talk a lot about this. We’ll have edits and be able to show potential recruits on what it looks like if they come here.”
