The tradition of great college football runs deep in North Dakota. With 18 National Championships, and a rich tradition of toiling in the shadows of much larger programs, NDSU does nothing but play great football and produce great football players. In 2024 it had the same results, just in a different season.
Cam Miller, Quarterback , North Dakota State Bison
While the fixation has been on the College Football Playoffs, Cam Miller was shining for the Bison. The Missouri Valley Conference MVP was doing work, leading NDSU to their fifth championship in eight seasons, beating Montana State 35-32.
Consistency is a key component for Miller. In the championship game, he threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more. For the season, the numbers kept rolling up with 3,251 passing yards, 33 touchdowns through the air, 631 rushing yards, and 12 TD’s on the ground. Most impressive: only four interceptions.

For a career, the Iowa native amassed 9,720 passing yards with a completion record of 69.3%. When you include his rushing yards, Miller had over 12,000 yards and 129 touchdowns with two national championships.
Miller is 6’1, and 212 lbs. He’s logged a whopping 53 games in Fargo and is a proven winner. The lineage from NDSU is an impressive list, including Trey Lance and Carson Wentz. Miller actually posted better numbers than the one time No. 2 pick overall. Both alums were high NFL draft picks, but Miller may be the best one of all.
Miller is not a game manager, meaning he is not going to simply hand the ball off to a running back and hope. He is a playmaker. But while his arm is no cannon, he’s a cerebral player who will sneak up the depth chart on the right team. Currently graded as a fourth round or later pick, he will open eyes in rookie camp.
