Kyle McCord’s time at Ohio State didn’t unfold as he had hoped, but he holds no grudges against the Buckeyes. After transferring to Syracuse this past season, McCord saw Ohio State move on with Kansas State transfer Will Howard as their quarterback. While McCord performed well, he never quite clicked with the team, leading to a mutual parting.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s “Rise and Schein” podcast, McCord reflected on his experience at Ohio State and expressed his appreciation for the fans. “I’m grateful for all of them,” he said. “I still cheer for Ohio State. I have many friends on the team and keep in touch with a few coaches. I appreciate the fans, as I met many great people in the community who have continued to support me. There’s nothing but love for the Buckeyes.”
It seems the change has benefited both McCord and the Buckeyes, with Howard performing well at Ohio State and McCord excelling at Syracuse. In just two games, he has completed 59 of 85 passes for 735 yards and eight touchdowns, with only one interception.
“I’m really thankful for how everything turned out,” McCord shared. “Losing to Michigan wasn’t how I imagined the season ending, but I learned a lot about myself and grew both as a player and a person. That experience has prepared me for what’s ahead in my career.”
