BREAKING: Gerry Glasco named Texas Tech head coach

Louisiana Ragin Cajuns softball coach Gerry Glasco has accepted the same position at Texas Tech in the Big 12, following an announcement made on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday evening, it was reported that Glasco had been offered the job and had until noon the following day to make a decision.

The news about his move to Texas Tech was confirmed on Thursday morning by Kevin Foote of the Acadiana Advocate. Shellie Landry, a former player for the Cajuns who served as an assistant in 2024, will step in as the acting director of the program.

Dr. Bryan Maggard, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, expressed gratitude for Glasco’s leadership over the past seven years, acknowledging the winning culture he and his staff established within the Softball program.

Glasco’s tenure in Louisiana saw consistent success, with an overall record of 300-88, five regular season Sun Belt Championships, and four SBC Tournament titles.

Excited about his new role at Texas Tech, Glasco expressed his enthusiasm and the goal of elevating the Tech Softball program under the guidance of the administration.

Meanwhile, the Cajuns softball program will now begin the search for only their third head coach since the year 2000. Additionally, the news of Glasco’s departure opens the transfer portal for 30 days for Cajuns players.
