UNC Basketball Recruiting: No. 1 Prep Checks Out Big 12 Suitor

The UNC basketball coaches are set to make their mark in the AJ Dybantsa recruitment race in just a few weeks.

As the competition heats up for Utah Prep forward and top UNC recruit AJ Dybantsa, who is ranked No. 1 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang seems to have gained an edge due to his last name reminding Dybantsa’s father of the Wu-Tang Clan.

“I really like the name,” Ace Dybantsa shared with ZAGSBLOG before touring Kansas State this weekend, which marked AJ’s first official visit of his senior year. “I’m a huge Wu-Tang fan. He mentioned that AJ would have the freedom to play and be supported by a solid team. I liked what he had to say, so we’re going to consider them.”

In a recent photo posted by Adam Zagoria, Ace was seen wearing a purple Wu-Tang shirt while AJ visited the Kansas State football team ahead of their 41-6 victory over UT Martin.

Currently, no insiders have made predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball regarding the AJ Dybantsa sweepstakes, suggesting that all seven finalists are still in contention.
