Titans coach Brian Callahan has made another addition to his coaching staff with the hiring of former Vanderbilt assistant Dylan Autenrieth.
Autenrieth, who previously served as Vanderbilt’s assistant offensive line coach, joins the
Titans as Defensive Quality Control coach.
Callahan said he interviewed six candidates for the job, including Autenrieth.
Autenrieth, who joined Vandy’s staff in 2022 as a graduate assistant, working with the offensive line, was given a nice endorsement by Vandy coach Clark Lea, a close friend of Callahan.
“We knew we were going to hire a defensive quality control coach, and wanted to go with a young, up-and-coming guy that we could develop,” Callahan said. “(Dylan) was the best one, he really did a nice job. It’s really good for him and his career. He was an offensive player and coach, and now he’s going to go to defense for a little bit. A really impressive young man, and we’re excited to add him. Clark was great … and a lot of really positive things about him as a young coach that make him a right fit for us.”
Autenrieth moved to Nashville following one year as a graduate assistant at Colorado State, where he worked with the offensive line and tight ends. The Dallas, Georgia, native played for NC State from 2016-19, appearing in 27 career games as a tight end for the Wolfpack.
Callahan said he might add one more coach to his staff for the 2025 season.

High Praise for Bo Hardegree
There was a point earlier this offseason when Callahan thought he might lose quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree from his staff.
Hardegree interviewed for the offensive coordinator spot for the Chicago Bears, but they ultimately hired Declan Doyle.
Callahan said he’s happy to retain Hardegree, a former assistant with the Raiders, Patriots, Jets , Dolphins Bears and Broncos in the NFL before joining Callahan’s first staff. But Callahan wondered how long he’ll be able to keep him.
Callahan, in fact, believes Hardegree might be a head coach one day.
“He is such a valuable part of our process,” Callahan said of Hardegree. “I lean on him a lot, trust him. He is a really, really good quarterbacks coach. There’s two parts to coaching – obviously the schematic part, and the position coaching part, technique and details and fundamentals. I think Bo is excellent at both. I don’t think Bo is going to be with us forever.
“I think he is going to be calling plays, and I think Bo will be a head coach at some point, too. He’s an excellent football coach.”
Treylon Burks Update
Titans receiver Treylon Burks is recovering from a torn ACL, and Callahan said it will impact most of his offseason, if not all of it.
Burks was placed on Injured Reserve in October after playing for the last time in 2024 on October 13. The following week, Burks was injured in practice.
“Unfortunate for him, and I feel for him,” Callahan said of Burks. “It’s sort of been one injury after another for him. This one was significant enough – it’s an ACL. So, he’s likely not to be participating in much of the offseason program, and we’ll see where that brings him into training camp. That’s the hard part, and it’s unfortunate for him.
“Because I was pleased with some of the things he had been doing. He had gotten better, and I was hoping we could keep that trajectory, but the injury got in the way.”
