Xavier Worthy Makes Big Draft Request to Chiefs in a Strong Message as Patrick Mahomes’ Side Told to Get Texas Football’s Jahdae Barron

If you’re part of the Chiefs Kingdom, don’t be surprised to see another Texas Longhorns player joining your team next summer. After acquiring former Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs are being encouraged to pursue Jahdae Barron. Barron, a cornerback who just won the Jim Thorpe Award, received a shout-out from Worthy.

The Jim Thorpe Award is typically given to the best defensive back in college football, and this year it went to Jahdae Barron. He outperformed other contenders like Ohio State’s Caleb Downs and Georgia’s Malaki Starks to earn this honor. Barron truly deserves this recognition after a standout senior season, where he recorded 47 tackles, five interceptions, and one sack, solidifying his legacy in college football.Although Barron nearly declared for the NFL draft last season, he decided against it at the last minute.

With expectations of being a late first-round or early second-round pick next season, he has Worthy in Kansas City advocating for him to join the Chiefs in 2025. After Barron won the Jim Thorpe Trophy, Worthy took to Instagram to say, “And when he comes to the Chiefs, it’s finna sting y’all more.”This isn’t the first time Worthy has promoted Barron to the Chiefs.

Just days earlier, he wore a warm-up shirt that read “Jahdae for Thorpe” and posted a picture on Instagram with the caption, “F— it twin for Thorpe.” With Barron winning the award and potentially joining the Chiefs next season, Worthy’s efforts may pay off. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old receiver continues to earn praise from Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes praises Xavier Worthy growth in Kansas City

Who doesn’t want to play with Patrick Mahomes right now? Xavier Worthy is one of those lucky players who isn’t just playing with Mahomes. But has continued to earn his validation while proving himself useful in his rookie year. After getting picked by the Chiefs as their 28th overall, Worthy has hit the ground running. His first touch was a 21-yard rushing TD from Mahomes in the season-opener against the Ravens. What a way to announce himself to the Chiefs Kingdom!

Well, Worthy hasn’t slowed down one bit. Over the 13 games he has played this season, the rookie WR has recorded 38 receptions on just 67 targets while racking up 448 yards. He also has 4 receiving TDs to his name, alongside two rushing TDs for 54 rushing yards. So when it came to praising the 21-year-old, Mahomes didn’t mince his words, “He’s getting better and better. I think he’s just playing with such more confidence. I think he’s going to be continuing to get better and better, which is going to help us going into the postseason.”

Even Worthy showered praise on Mahomes while calling it “a dream come true” to play with him. You see why they win when you’re here. They work hard. They go about their business the right way.” Only time will tell whether Worthy can continue helping the Chiefs in their return to the Super Bowl this season. Who knows, maybe he could win a Super Bowl ring in his first season in the NFL, considering the way the Chiefs are winning games this year.
