WVU just made a surprise preseason pickup straight outta JUCO

As WVU looks to wrap up their second week of preseason practices, they’ve made another late addition to the defensive side of the ball.

The Mountaineers have added JUCO linebacker Caleb Nuhi-Yandall to the roster. The addition of Nuhi-Yandall, first reported by Joe Smith of RedditCFB and HailWV was discovered when he was included on a roster handed out at an open practice for media on Friday morning, where he is listed as a junior.

It's the 9th day of preseason practice for WVU & we got a look at practice this morning, some notes:

– LB Caleb Nuhi-Yandall (Cerritos CC) is a new addition to the team.

– Back up to 4 RBs today: Cyncir Bowers practicing & a fourth unidentified RB was also in action. #HailWV

Yandall joins the program after a stop at Cerritos CC in California. The Long Beach, Calif. native comes to Morgantown after being selected as a first team all-conference player last season for Cerritos.

This is the second edition to the defense since Camp started, after news broke earlier this week that the Mountaineers would be adding Oluwaseyi Omotosho from Oregon State. Omotosho also appeared on the practice roster on Friday, being listed as a defensive lineman.

The moves come after Rich Rodriguez has talked openly about adding players through the portal during preseason camp. Rodriguez has mostly hinted at filling out some depth in the running back room through the portal, but it seems late editions have not been limited to the offensive side of the ball. Rodriguez spoke during his media availability after practice earlier this week on the process of adding players so late in the process.

“The guys we would add in now, and obviously there’s not going to be many…you’re going to kind of force feed them a little bit, what they can and can’t do, and go from there,” Rodriguez said.
