The Michigan Wolverines had quite the early signing period in the 2025 recruiting cycle, getting guys like five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood and so many others to sign up to play in Ann Arbor.
However, there are two more fish out there to be reeled in. Here are Michigan’s top targets that are still on the board for the traditional signing day on Feb. 5.
Five-star OL Ty Haywood
Michigan reached out to Haywood — an Alabama commit — directly following Underwood’s flip last month. Since then, Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines have convinced him to take his recruitment into February, which bodes incredibly well for their eventual chances to land him.
247Sports’ Mike Roach wrote last month that the expectation is for Haywood to not end up in Tuscaloosa, and that Michigan is the “most obvious destination” for him. However, it appears that Texas Tech — according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong — is also making a big run at the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder from Denton, Texas.
One would imagine Haywood would make some visits this winter before ultimately deciding on his future school. This has been an interesting recruitment to watch over the last few weeks, so buckle up for the ending of this one.
Four-star edge Zahir Mathis
A top-100 overall prospect, Mathis was once committed to Ohio State, but he backed off that pledge last month shortly before Michigan beat the Buckeyes for a fourth straight year.
Not only has Michigan made contact with the 6-foot-6, 225-pounder from Philadelphia, but he is actually visiting Ann Arbor this weekend from Dec. 13-15. However, the hometown Penn State Nittany Lions are also a team to watch in this recruitment. They already stole one recruit away from Michigan — four-star tight end Andrew Olesh — so James Franklin and company cannot be underestimated here.
We’ll have to see if Mathis schedules a visit to PSU, but the Wolverines are surging in this recruitment, so hopefully the three-day visit goes well and they eventually land him.
