Police arrested Tyler Baker-Williams on Thursday for an incident that occurred on March 22.
Baker-Williams, a former North Carolina State football standout, has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after allegedly inflicting serious injuries on his five-month-old baby, according to arrest warrants.
Garner police arrested Baker-Williams on Thursday for an incident that occurred on March 22. The warrant states that Baker-Williams “did intentionally inflict serious bodily injury” on his baby, resulting in multiple fractures including a broken toe, ankle, and rib.
Baker-Williams faces one count of intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, a felony charge. His bond was set at $500,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Wake County court on Friday afternoon.
The Southeast Raleigh High School graduate played five seasons with the NC State Wolfpack from 2018 to 2022. During his college career, Baker-Williams had a total of 153 tackles and five interceptions. He received the team’s DeWayne Washington Award for top defensive back in both 2020 and 2021 and earned honorable mention All-ACC honors in his final two seasons.
Though undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Baker-Williams briefly joined the Los Angeles Chargers during preseason before being cut. He later signed with the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League (which has since merged with the XFL to create the United Football League) in October 2023. According to arrest records and the CFL website, Baker-Williams is currently on the active roster of the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League.
