Wisconsin Badgers Confirm Another Huge Commitment After Flipping A Familiar Player

In the opening week of college football, no victory stood out more than Florida State’s upset over Alabama. Just a year removed from a two-win season, the Seminoles knocked off a national title contender in a stunning performance. Now, head coach Mike Norvell and his staff are looking to capitalize on that momentum by trying to flip 4-star running back Amari Latimer from Wisconsin.
Florida State isn’t alone in pursuing Latimer—Georgia and Tennessee are also making strong pushes. What’s concerning for Wisconsin is that Latimer appears open to these pitches and is at least considering other options in his recruitment.

Amari Latimer is off to a strong start in his senior year of high school football, already turning heads with highlight-reel plays that make opposing defenders look outmatched. He was recently named to the Mr. Georgia watchlist—an honor given to the top high school player in the state—joining just five others on the list.
Latimer is far from under the radar. Already considered one of the top running backs in the country, his profile continues to rise. Now, powerhouse programs like Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida State are making serious efforts to flip his commitment. That’s a tough trio for any program to fend off in recruiting battles.
For Wisconsin, there is at least one advantage: Latimer’s brother, Geimere Latimer, is already a Badger. While family ties alone may not be enough to secure his commitment if stronger offers come in, it’s a helpful connection. Adding to that, Wisconsin’s strong ground game could be attractive to a running back like Amari.
The challenge, however, is geographic. Latimer is a star in Georgia, and schools like Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida State have a stronger recruiting presence in the Southeast than Wisconsin does. The Badgers are fighting an uphill battle from a distance.
Whether head coach Luke Fickell can hold on to his top-tier commit remains to be seen, but with major programs making aggressive pushes, it’s clear the pressure is mounting.
