Washington Huskies Receive Big News
2026 edge rusher Landon Barnes will be making an official visit to Washington.
The Duncanville (TX) star, rated as the No. 18 edge rusher recruit in 2026 by the 247Sports Composite, announced that he’ll be back on Montlake from April 25-27 on Wednesday after spending last weekend on campus for junior day.

Barnes has a busy spring, spending the back half of this week at Kentucky and LSU. He has an official visit to Arizona State scheduled on April 4, before Washington, and then he will take visits closer to home at SMU (June 6) and Baylor (June 13).
The top three in-state recruits in the class of 2026 all play off the edge and have been recruited heavily by Washington. Kennedy Catholic’s Derek Colman-Brusa and O’Dea’s David Schwerzel and Fameitau Siale were all in attendance with Barnes for junior day. But the Huskies are clearly keeping their options open in the event that any of the three choose to head outside the state – Colman-Brusa has been linked to Oregon and Ohio State, while Schwerzel has been targeted by UCLA, Stanford, Cal, and Michigan.
SMU has had the early inside track in Barnes’ recruitment, but his return to Montlake this spring could easily turn the tide, especially with other recruits like running back Brian Bonner also set to visit the same weekend.
With Washington also in a good position with quarterback Brady Smigiel after his junior day visit, the Huskies could wind up with a strong string of commitments sooner rather than later.
