Virginia Tech Adds Eastern Michigan Transfer Connor Serven

Connor Serven has officially joined Virginia Tech, filling the team’s available scholarship spot.

Serven, a 6-foot-8 senior, is entering his second-to-last year of eligibility. After playing last season at Eastern Michigan, he previously spent three years at Illinois. He had a notable performance at Eastern Michigan, averaging 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds across 31 games, including three double-digit scoring outings against conference rivals. Known for his reliability off the bench, his usage rate occasionally exceeded 20%, and he recorded a career high of nine rebounds in a game.

At Illinois, Serven contributed in 18 games, accumulating three points, seven rebounds, and one steal during his tenure.

With this announcement, Serven becomes the fifteenth player on the Hokies’ roster, joining a talented transfer class that includes Jaden Schutt from Duke, Tobi Lawal from VCU, Hysier Miller from Temple, Rodney Brown from Cal, and Ben Burnham from Charleston.

Tobi Lawal brings electrifying athleticism to the team, boasting a 49.5-inch vertical and strong defensive stats with averages of 1.4 steals and 1.9 blocks per 40 minutes for the upcoming season.

Jaden Schutt, who redshirted last year at Duke, has played in 14 games, averaging 2.1 points with a 35% three-point shooting rate. A highly regarded high school recruit, Schutt has the potential to make a significant impact at Virginia Tech with his impressive shooting skills.
