The Louisville football team will be missing one of its key playmakers for a significant portion of the 2024 season.
Wide receiver Caullin Lacy is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks due to a broken collarbone. He was anticipated to make a substantial impact at the start of the season after transferring from South Alabama.
The program confirmed that Lacy sustained the injury during practice on Saturday, just two weeks ahead of their first regular season matchup against Austin Peay.
Before joining Louisville, Lacy was one of the top wide receiver transfers available. He concluded the 2023 season with a career-best 91 receptions for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns.
His previous best performance was in 2022, where he recorded 58 receptions, 756 yards, and six touchdowns.
Chris Bell is set to step into a larger role for the Cardinals following a season in which he recorded 29 receptions for 407 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, Ja’Corey Brooks will need to make an impact after transferring from the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Cardinals are coming off a successful 10-4 season in 2023 and aim to build on that this year.
Their first game against the Austin Peay Governors is scheduled to kick off at noon ET.
