Utah Football’s Latest Star Commitment Reveals His Game-Changing Decision

Utah Football commits Nathan Tilmon
SALT LAKE CITY – This week, Kyle Whittingham’s Utah Football program secured an exciting commitment as three-star safety Nathan Tilmon announced his decision on Saturday. The 6-foot, 180-pound talent from Texas chose the Utes, coached by Morgan Scalley, over his other top contenders, Texas and TCU.

Nathan Tilmon Talks Utah Commitment

“After going through this lengthy process, it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” Tilmon shared. “I’m thrilled to be a Ute!”

Committing is always a memorable occasion for recruits and their families, bringing both excitement about the decision and relief from the recruiting journey. It’s also a significant moment for the coaches involved.

“It was wild! I actually informed the coaches earlier this week. I called them while wearing my Utah hat from my official visit and said, ‘I’m ready.’ Coach Scalley went wild, shouting, ‘Tilmon committed, Tilmon committed!’ Then I spoke with Coach Shah and Coach Whittingham, and they were all really excited.”

Tilmon’s family is thrilled about his decision and played a key part in the process. His older brother experienced recruitment a few years ago, and his dad provided valuable guidance along the way.

“My brother advised me to choose a place where I feel loved and truly wanted,” Tilmon said. “My dad has been advocating for Utah from the very beginning. Ever since our visit, he’s described it as a family atmosphere there and has complete trust in Coach Scalley to help me reach my potential.”

The recruitment process has been lengthy, starting last summer and gaining momentum after his junior season. As more programs showed interest, his list of offers exceeded ten. Utah officially came into the picture in January, making Tilmon a focal point for their coaching staff.

In June, they arranged an official visit for Tilmon and his family. The chance to explore life beyond Texas was a significant factor in his choice, and the area left a lasting impression on him.

“Salt Lake City feels like a dream, honestly,” Tilmon admitted. “As a Texas boy, waking up during my visit at the Grand America, seeing the snowy mountains was something I’ve never experienced back home.”

Tilmon’s commitment provides a valuable enhancement to Utah’s 2025 recruiting class and, even more crucially, strengthens the future of the safety position.
