USC Trojans Has Good News On Xavier Griffin Commitment
The USC Trojans have attracted several top recruits from the class of 2026. Despite having an impressive recruiting class under coach Lincoln Riley, the team must stay vigilant to retain its commitments. Five-star line backer Xavier Griffin committed to USC in July, but his commitment isn’t entirely secure.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Griffin is ranked as the No. 24 recruit nationally, the No. 2 linebacker, and the No. 3 player from Georgia. He is a significant addition for the USC Trojans, but he has not fully closed his recruitment.
Recently, Griffin has visited the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas Longhorns, and he has also drawn interest from Ohio State. Each of these schools is actively pursuing him, and a potential flip could happen in the coming months if USC doesn’t enhance its recruitment efforts.
Griffin spoke with On3 about his recruitment, making it clear that he is wholeheartedly committed to USC.
“I’m still visiting schools, but I’m unsure about official visits for now,” Griffin said to On3. “I’m fully dedicated to USC, but I’m enjoying the experience, connecting with different programs, gauging my feelings, and deciding if I want to take any official visits.”
Even with the transfer portal allowing players the flexibility to switch schools during their college careers, the recruiting experience is a unique opportunity that only comes around once. Griffin has positively reflected on each school he has explored.
Griffin, who is from Georgia, has caught the attention of the Bulldogs, who are actively recruiting the five-star linebacker.
“I really enjoyed my time at Georgia. I got to watch their practice, and they really push their players hard. The intensity is impressive, and it’s great to see them compete. They’re encouraging me to visit more, their coaching staff is strong, and the atmosphere is pleasant up there,” Griffin shared.
According to On3, the USC Trojans currently have the No. 2 recruiting class for 2026 in the country and the top class in the Big Ten. They have secured 23 commitments thus far. Griffin is their leading commitment, alongside five-star cornerback RJ Sermons. With the 2026 class, the Trojans are working on building a top-tier defense, and Griffin would be a key player for them.
While there is a possibility that Griffin may reconsider his commitment, he has clearly stated that he is content with his choice to join the USC Trojans
“My commitment to USC is solid,” Griffin stated. “I feel positive about what they’re currently doing. They have a clear vision for the program and how they want it to evolve. I believe USC will be competing for a national championship soon.”

“The coaching staff is established, they have a rich history, and their goal is to return to winning at a high level,” he added. “This weekend, I want to spend more time with the coaches and other recruits. I’ve visited about six times now, and I really enjoy it there; I just want to connect more with everyone involved.”
Griffin plans to visit USC on April 26 for an unofficial visit and will return on June 20 for an official visit. While he’s in talks with other schools and keeping his options open, the Trojans remain the leaders in his recruitment.
