USC 5-Star Target Drops Updated Strong Take on Trojans
The USC Trojans have nine months left to enhance their already impressive top-ranked 2026 recruiting class, which includes keeping an eye on a top five-star prospect.
Quarterback Ryder Lyons, a standout from Folsom High, is still undecided. He recently came close to committing to the Trojans but has decided to take his time with the recruitment process.
Lyons shared his perspective on his relationship with USC during the Overtime Elite 7-on-7 tournament in Dallas, talking to On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong. He mentioned that he remains interested in the Trojans and had high praise for head coach Lincoln Riley.
“Coach (Lincoln) Riley has produced three first-round NFL Draft picks and three Heisman winners. It feels familiar to me since my brother plays there, and they’ve been recruiting me for a while. I don’t think there’s a quarterback coach in the country better than Coach Riley,” Lyons said.
Walker’s, a tight end for the Trojans, is Ryder’s older brother, and if Ryder decides to join USC, he would have the chance to play alongside him.
However, Lyons is not solely focused on the Trojans. He informed Wiltfong that Oregon, a rival in the Big Ten, is also very much in the running, as he has developed a strong relationship with them.
Additionally, BYU is in the mix, particularly since Lyons plans to serve an LDS mission after high school, making him eligible to play in 2027. BYU, as a Mormon-based university, is known for welcoming Latter-day Saint players.
He intends to visit colleges before the end of March
