UPDATE: Red Sox Gain Depth From Injured List, Make Roster Move

The Red Sox executed a roster adjustment on Saturday, enhancing their depth in Triple-A Worcester. Boston reinstated catcher/designated hitter Tyler Heineman from the injured list and subsequently sent him down following Friday’s matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals.Heineman’s sole appearance for the Red Sox this season saw him getting hit by a pitch in his second plate appearance before exiting the game. Sidelined since April 23 due to a right hamstring strain, he will now rejoin Worcester, where he has been a consistent contributor for the WooSox.

In his 12 games with Worcester this season, the 32-year-old Heineman posted a .235 batting average along with a double, three RBIs, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases in 34 at-bats. With Connor Wong and Reese McGuire currently handling duties in Boston, Heineman steps in as the next player in line to provide support.
