Update on the Kitty Hawk whale: Many people have inquired about the removal process and what happens to the carcass. After talking with representatives from Jennette’s Pier Aquarium MSN, I’ve discovered the following: The whale’s bones were taken out and interred. When they are completed, schoolchildren here on the OBX will exhume and reassemble them before putting them on display at the visitors center in Corolla. This is a few years in the future. The backhoe and skin photo is not mine. It was shared by someone on Reddit. The beach photo, where all these are buried, was taken two days ago. If you haven’t already, please follow me on Instagram so I can follow the narrative as it develops

Kitty Hawk whale update: A lot of people have asked what happens with the carcass and how it gets removed. Here is what I’ve learned after speaking with representatives from Jenettes Pier Aquarium MMSN.
The bones were removed from the whale and buried. When ready, they will be exhumed and put back together by school students here on the OBX and then on display in Corolla at the visitors center. This is several years down the line.
Photo of skin and back hoe is not mine. Someone on Reddit shared it. The beach photo is from 2 days ago, where all the non-bones are buried.
If you’re not already, feel free to follow on Instagram; I’ll keep up with the story as long as I can. I’d love to be there to document when they exhume and put it back together. IG: OBXBEACHPHOTO
