When the Wolverines acquired Andrew Gentry from the 2020 recruiting class, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan were viewed as having made a significant acquisition. After graduating from high school, Gentry, a four-star prospect, went on a mission tour and missed a season. Gentry was predicted to start as right tackle for the Wolverines going into the 2024 season, but Evan Link was selected instead. Gentry took over after a poor start and started two games before suffering an injury that ended his season.
Gentry decided to use the transfer portal after the season. The large offensive lineman declared that he would be spending his senior year at BYU. Gentry redshirted his first year with Michigan, leaving him with two years of eligibility left.

Brady Norton of FCS Cal Poly was acquired by Michigan via the transfer portal, giving the Wolverines an offensive lineman of starting calibre. The Wolverines are looking to improve an offensive line that struggled last season by bringing in Norton and current Michigan players.
