Georgia football defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann received a one-year contract extension following last season, keeping him under contract through June 30, 2028, with scheduled pay increases over the next two seasons.

Schumann, now in his 10th year on Kirby Smart’s staff, currently earns $2.003 million annually. His salary is set to rise to $2.103 million on July 1, 2026, and $2.203 million on July 1, 2027, according to a contract amendment obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald on Friday, Oct. 10, via an open records request.

In addition to Schumann, five other Georgia assistants received one-year extensions this offseason: wide receivers coach James Coley, offensive line coach Stacy Searles, co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, defensive line coach Tray Scott, and defensive backs coach Donte Williams.

Schumann is in his third year as Georgia’s defensive coordinator, having previously served as co-defensive coordinator alongside Will Muschamp in 2022. Last season, he ranked as the seventh highest-paid assistant coach in the nation, according to USA Today’s salary database.

Georgia’s defense has remained strong under Schumann, ranking 23rd nationally in scoring defense last season (allowing 20.6 points per game) and 32nd this season (18.4) heading into Saturday’s game at Auburn. The Bulldogs were 30th in total defense last year (329.9 yards per game) and are 32nd this season (313.2).

Wide receivers coach James Coley and offensive line coach Stacy Searles are now under contract through June 30, 2027, while co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, defensive line coach Tray Scott, and defensive backs coach Donte Williams are signed through June 30, 2028.

Scott’s total pay will increase before next season, rising from $1.202 million to $1.225 million on July 1, 2026, and to $1.250 million on July 1, 2027. Williams’ salary rose from $828,000 to $853,000 starting July 1, 2025, with further increases to $878,000 on July 1, 2026, and $903,000 on July 1, 2027.

Andrew Thacker, promoted this offseason from defensive quality control coach to nickel/Star coach, is under contract through June 30, 2027, earning $400,000 annually. Thacker previously served as Georgia Tech’s defensive coordinator.
