After a shaky regular season, Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels were able to squeak into one of the final spots of the NCAA Tournament. Led by RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau, UNC looked arguably the best it has all season in the First Four win over San Diego State. But Ole Miss proved to be too much for the Tar Heels in the first round. Now, Davis will be losing two of his starting guards for next season. RJ Davis finished out his senior season, while Elliot Cadeau elected to transfer to the Michigan Wolverines after two years in Chapel Hill.

However, Davis has started to build his team for the 2025-26 season and has already added some height, landing center Henri Veesaar from the transfer portal, per Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony. “BREAKING: Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar has committed to North Carolina,” Givony wrote on X. “The 7-foot Estonian is one of the best available big men in the portal. Important frontcourt addition for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.”

North Carolina had a bit of a height problem during the past season. Their tallest starter was Jae’Lyn Withers (6-foot-9), and the tallest off the bench was James Washington (6-foot-10).

Veesaar’s 7-foot, 225-pound frame will certainly add a post presence UNC is looking for. Veesaar was one of the top-ranked transfers in the portal this year, ranking 19th overall and second among centers (247Sports).

He was a four-star prospect coming out of Estonia High School in Estonia. Veesaar played professional basketball for Real Madrid from 2019 to 2022 before joining Arizona. He played in 29 games during his freshman season but missed all of 2023-24 with an elbow injury. In 37 games played this year (five starts), Veesaar averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
