UNC Basketball: Hubert Davis Travels to Virginia for five-star Phenom Recruit

UNC Basketball: Hubert Davis Visits Virginia to Scout Top Recruit

The UNC basketball recruiting team is focusing on five-star prospect Nate Ament.

Ament received an offer from UNC several months ago and has indicated he plans to visit the Tar Heels during his senior year.

At 6-foot-9 and 185 pounds, the forward hasn’t finalized dates for a trip to Chapel Hill or any other college visits, aside from a rescheduled late-August trip to Kentucky with no new date set.

He’s in no hurry to conclude his recruitment. In fact, Ament has mentioned that he will likely wait until spring to sign his national letter of intent and hasn’t listed any finalists yet.

By sending the entire UNC coaching staff to visit Ament at Highland School (Va.) on Monday, fourth-year head coach Hubert Davis may have enhanced the Tar Heels’ chances of securing an official visit from this sought-after prospect.

Ament, who holds offers from all major programs and has risen to No. 13 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings, has expressed interest in visiting Duke, UConn, and Virginia.

UNC basketball has made 18 offers for the 2025 class.

While a few prospects have ruled out the Tar Heels, only two of Davis’s 2025 targets—five-star guard Jasper Johnson from Overtime Elite (Ga.) and four-star center Malachi Moreno from Great Crossing High School (Ky.)—have made their decisions, both committing to Kentucky’s coach Mark Pope
