Kendre Harrison, a recruit for the Class of 2026, is considered the top dual-sport athlete in North Carolina. Hailing from Reidsville, North Carolina, the rising junior has received offers from both the UNC football and basketball programs.
He holds the No. 5 position for power forwards in the nation according to 247Sports, and is also recognized as the top tight end in the nation for the Class of 2026. Notably, he achieved state championship wins in both sports during his sophomore year.
Harrison gained viral attention in February after a video of him shattering a backboard during a high school basketball game as a sophomore circulated on social media. A new video that emerged on Twitter revealed that Harrison repeated this feat, breaking two backboards in just three months.
The resulting damage led the principal of Reidsville High School to ban basketball for the remainder of the year.
During the off-season, Harrison is participating in the U16 EYBL league to enhance his skills, where he is currently leading his age group in rebounding, with an average of 9.4 rebounds per game. In his sophomore season at Reidsville High School, Harrison displayed impressive statistics, averaging 19.4 points and a remarkable 15.1 rebounds per game, similar to the performance of Amando Bacot.
The UNC basketball and football programs are eager to secure Harrison’s commitment, and the athlete has expressed his appreciation for their efforts.
In an interview with Inside Carolina in May, Harrison expressed his desire to attend a school where he could participate in both sports, indicating a preference for North Carolina.
