AJ Dybantsa Visits UNC; No. 1 Ranked Player in 2025 CBB Recruiting Class

Forward AJ Dybantsa officially visited North Carolina over the weekend. Joe Tipton from On3.com reported on Friday that Dybantsa was set to arrive in Chapel Hill.

Dybantsa, ranked as the top prospect in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, previously mentioned to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi that he is considering seven schools: Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, and North Carolina.

He has already visited three of these schools: Auburn in March, Kansas State on August 30, and Kansas on September 6. Following his North Carolina visit, he plans to check out Alabama on September 27 and Baylor on October 4, with his final visit at BYU on October 11.

Standing at 6’9″ and weighing 210 pounds, Dybantsa leverages his height and wingspan to shoot over smaller defenders and create his own scoring opportunities. He was the top scorer at the 2023 Peach Jam, averaging 25.8 points per game.

Dybantsa also shone for Team USA at the FIBA U17 World Cup, posting averages of 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, while shooting 58.7 percent.

Before his visit, he expressed his enthusiasm for the university. “I like it a lot – Chapel Hill,” he stated (via Aidan Jensen from USA Today’s Tar Heels Wire). “They have a lot of (professional) wings… He [Hubert Davis] was telling me I’ll play the wing role there. I’ll play on-ball and off-ball, I’ll be a two-way player – I’ll be a do-it-all wing.”

As Coach Davis gears up for the 2024-25 season, he’ll be working to attract the top prospect in the 2025 class.
