UNC Basketball: Arrival Time for No. 1 Recruit’s Official Visit

Utah Prep forward AJ Dybantsa, a Massachusetts native who has held the top spot in the 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings since announcing his reclassification from 2026, is set to arrive in Chapel Hill on Friday evening for his official visit to UNC, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Dybantsa’s campus tour, which includes his anticipated attendance at Kenan Stadium for the UNC football game against James Madison at noon ET on Saturday (ACC Network), will be the first official visit by a No. 1 recruit to the Tar Heels under Hubert Davis.

Davis, who is entering his fourth season as head coach, visited Dybantsa at his school earlier this month accompanied by two assistants.

The Tar Heels are among the top seven schools that 6-foot-9, 200-pound AJ Dybantsa listed in early August. His other contenders include BYU, Auburn, Alabama, Kansas State, Kansas, and Baylor. He recently visited Kansas State and Kansas. After his visit to Chapel Hill, the highly touted one-and-done No. 1 overall draft pick plans to visit Alabama, Baylor, and BYU over the weekend.

Dybantsa intends to wait until February to make a decision on his recruitment. By that time, it’s likely that the UNC basketball staff will have secured at least one or two commitments, as the Tar Heels are in strong contention for several targets who are nearing their decisions.
