UConn’s; head coach Dan Hurley Receives Major News on Monday
The Connecticut Huskies have been a powerhouse in college basketball over the last three seasons. After winning consecutive national titles in 2023 and 2024 under head coach Dan Hurley, their championship streak ended in the 2025 NCAA Tournament with a tough Round of 32 loss to the Florida Gators.
Now that the spring transfer portal window has closed, UConn has made significant roster adjustments to strengthen their returning core.
Hurley managed to keep key players such as Solo Ball, Alex Karaban, Tarris Reed Jr., and Jaylin Stewart. The Huskies also made major gains in the transfer market, highlighted by the addition of guard Silas Demary Jr., who had been exploring the NBA Draft.
On Monday, it was confirmed that Demary has officially withdrawn from the draft and will join UConn for the upcoming season — a major boost to the Huskies’ lineup in Storrs.
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein was the first to report the news, citing Demary’s father as the source. Demary spent the last two seasons at Georgia and played a crucial role in the Bulldogs’ recent NCAA Tournament run.

Last season, Silas Demary Jr. posted strong numbers, averaging 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting an impressive 37.4% from beyond the arc. He’s projected to be a solid addition to UConn’s backcourt, complementing the team’s returning guards.
Head coach Dan Hurley also brought in Dayton transfer Malachi Smith, further strengthening a roster that now combines seasoned veterans with promising new talent.
With a solid mix of returning players and impactful transfers, the Huskies are well-positioned to remain a top contender — especially with a highly rated freshman class joining the fold.
Per the official UConn roster, the team currently consists of 11 players, including Demary Jr. The lineup features a balance of experience and youth, with four seniors, four juniors, and three freshmen: Jacob Furphy, Braylon Mullins, and Eric Reibe.
