Former Texas Tech football star lands on Sports Illustrated Most Influential figures list

Former Texas Tech football star makes it onto Sports Illustrated’s list of the Most Influential Figures.

The publication has put together a power list highlighting the most influential sports figures in the world today.

It can be said that Patrick Mahomes II is the face of American sports, and it’s no surprise he is featured on Sports Illustrated’s list of the 50 Most Influential Figures in Sports.

Mahomes stands out as the most recognizable and influential player in the NFL and is also among the most successful athletes globally off the field. He is involved in numerous advertising campaigns as a spokesperson and holds ownership stakes in the Kansas City Royals (MLB) and other sports ventures.

Notably, he has his own apparel brand associated with adidas, which recently launched its second signature shoe.

According to Sports Illustrated, “The 29-year-old QB, while aiming to lead the Chiefs to a third consecutive Super Bowl title, also pursues entrepreneurial ventures. Mahomes owns shares in the Royals, Kansas City’s MLS and NWSL clubs, and the F1 team Alpine.”

Last season, Mahomes secured his third Super Bowl championship and third Super Bowl MVP award, tying him with Joe Montana for the second-most MVPs in history, behind Tom Brady’s five.

It’s an impressive journey for a player who was initially the No. 389 recruit in the nation and a three-star recruit in 2014. Mahomes has now become a true American sports icon, with his legacy likely to expand as his career progresses.
