TRADE: John Schreiber Message to Red Sox After Trade To Royals

John Schreiber is feeling “enthusiastic” about his upcoming opportunity in Kansas City, acknowledging that his recent move to the Major League Baseball team wouldn’t have happened without the support of the Red Sox.

On Saturday, Boston traded Schreiber to the Royals in return for pitching prospect David Sandlin. The 30-year-old had been a part of the Red Sox since February 2021 after being claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers. It was during his time in Boston that Schreiber demonstrated his skills as a reliable reliever, maintaining a 2.22 ERA over a total of 65 innings in the 2022 season.

After the trade, Schreiber expressed his gratitude to the Red Sox and then set off for Kansas City.

Schreiber expressed his gratitude towards the organization, stating to reporters, per MassLive, that he has a lot of positive things to say about them. He mentioned that before they picked him up off waivers, he was going through a tough time mentally.

The organization provided him with a chance to rediscover himself and he made sure to make the most of it when he joined them. They offered him a platform to thrive, and he is incredibly thankful for the support and opportunities they have given him.

Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow admitted that it was a challenging decision to trade Schreiber, as he is held in high regard by his former teammates. However, due to the strong bullpen depth that Boston has developed, Breslow believed that making the trade was the most beneficial choice for the club.
