Season-ending injuries hit Notre Dame before Week 1

Season-ending injuries are never a good thing, but they hurt a little more when they happen before the season even begins.

Especially for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who had their fair share of injuries throughout the 2024 season.

Unfortunately for Marcus Freeman’s team, those injury troubles are ramping up again right before the start of the 2025 season.

According to an official release from the Irish’s football public relations team, tight end Kevin Bauman and running back Kedren Young both suffered torn ACLs, requiring surgery and keeping the two offensive players off the gridiron for the 2025 season.

Young ran for 116 yards and a touchdown last year during his freshman year behind Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price on the depth chart.

Bauman, behind starter Mitchell Evans, appeared in 14 games, but continues to struggle with injuries that have kept him off the field for most of his time in South Bend, including missing the entire 2023 season.

The Irish open their 2025 campaign against the Miami Hurricanes in prime time on Sunday, August 31.
