Toronto Maple Leafs Yet Again Provides Recent Multiple Injury Updates Including Pacioretty, Dewar And a known Significant Player

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without several players for their upcoming game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

During Tuesday’s practice, head coach Craig Berube shared an injury update on John Tavares, who was placed on injured reserve last week after sustaining an injury during practice when he got tangled up awkwardly with defenseman Chris Tanev.

Additionally, Berube noted that Max Pacioretty and Connor Dewar are both dealing with minor injuries. There was also an update regarding goaltender Joseph Woll, who was not present at practice.

The Maple Leafs have extended their winning streak to three games, beginning with victories over the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens.

They recently secured a 5-3 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. While the team is performing well, they will have to contend with some roster losses. Berube provided updates on players who are sidelined as well as new absences. Both Tavares and Pacioretty missed the game against the Lightning, and Tavares was also absent from the match against the Canadiens. According to the Leafs’ head coach, Tavares has not skated since his injury on January 15. There is no specific timeline for his recovery or additional details, other than it being a lower-body injury. Nonetheless, Berube is optimistic about Tavares returning to practice soon.

When he was placed on injured reserve, the team stated he would be “week-to-week.” Berube also noted that Pacioretty and Dewar will miss Thursday’s game against the Blue Jackets, with both forwards classified as day-to-day due to upper-body injuries. Dewar participated in the game against Tampa Bay, logging 10 shifts and totaling 5:10 of ice time. Ryan Reaves will take Dewar’s spot on Toronto’s fourth line. Lastly, Woll had a day off from practice for maintenance. He set a new career high with 24 starts, surpassing last season’s total of 23. He is also expected to start his fifth consecutive game in nine days on Thursday against Columbus.
