Syracuse Orange Share Touching Stories Of A Talented Four-star Quarterback

A few days ago, a prominent national analyst mentioned in a social media update that Syracuse football is a “favorite” in the recruitment of, a four-star quarterback from Pennsylvania and a top-200 national prospect for 2026.

According to On3’s Hunter Shelton, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sidwar, who previously made a verbal commitment to Big Ten member Rutgers, has revealed his final five schools.

Syracuse is among the schools on Sidwar’s list, alongside Ole Miss and Missouri from the Southeastern Conference, as well as two Big Ten schools: UCLA and Iowa.

It is particularly promising that head coach Fran Brown and his elite coaching staff are still competing for Sidwar’s commitment, especially since he received a scholarship offer from Syracuse in January 2024.

Sidwar had an outstanding junior season at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA, where the team finished with a 10-1 record last season. In 2024, he completed 69 percent of his passes, throwing for 2,747 yards and 31 touchdowns, while only throwing six interceptions.

He has visited Syracuse multiple times, including an early November trip last year when the Orange defeated Virginia Tech 38-31 in overtime at the JMA Wireless Dome. It seems that Sidwar may plan another visit to Central New York soon.

According to the On3 article, Sidwar mentioned, “Syracuse invited me to come up anytime I want. I’ll definitely go. They just opened a new football facility, and I want to check it out.”

In late January of this year, Nunzio Campanile, the associate head coach for offense and quarterbacks coach for Syracuse football, visited Sidwar at his home, according to a post on X.

Currently, both the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking place Sidwar within the top 300 overall in the 2026 class, ranking him among the top 20 quarterbacks and within the top 10 in Pennsylvania.

At this point, his highest rankings for the 2026 class come from On3, which lists Sidwar as No. 192 nationally, No. 15 among quarterbacks, and No. 5 in Pennsylvania.

The Syracuse coaching staff has secured at least nine verbal commitments from high school juniors, and several recruiting services have ranked the Orange’s 2026 recruiting class among the top 15 in the nation.
