Tobi Lawal, a former VCU transfer, has announced his decision to return to Virginia Tech after pulling out of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Lawal was a key contributor for the Hokies last season, leading the team in both scoring (12.4 PPG) and rebounding (7.0 RPG). He also made an impact on defense, averaging 0.7 blocks per game — the highest on Mike Young’s squad.

He’ll be joined by three new additions from the transfer portal:
Power Forward: Amani Hansberry

Standing at 6’8″, Hansberry played meaningful minutes for West Virginia last season. He averaged nearly 10 points and 6.5 rebounds across 31 games, while shooting close to 43% from the floor in about 24 minutes per game.
Hansberry recorded 13 double-digit scoring games and notched four double-doubles. He consistently performed in big matchups, tallying 51 total points in early-season contests against Gonzaga, Louisville, and Arizona. In all but two of WVU’s games against ranked opponents, he reached double figures.
Guard/Forward: Izaiah Pasha

Pasha made a strong impression as a freshman at Delaware, earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors. He stood out during the conference tournament, helping the No. 12 seed Blue Hens reach the final. He was named to the All-CAA Tournament team after averaging 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1 block per game in postseason play.
Over the regular season, Pasha put up 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game on an efficient 51.7% shooting. Though effective overall, his 33.3% accuracy from beyond the arc could improve — a development area under Coach Young’s guidance.
