The NBA’s officials Announced Good News Of Cooper Flagg After A Strong Message Saturday Afternoon
The Duke basketball sensation remains the projected No. 1 overall pick.
The initial group of invitations to the 2025 NBA Draft green room, scheduled for June 25–26, was announced this week. Unsurprisingly, standout Duke freshman Cooper Flagg was among the names. After dominating college basketball in his only season at Duke—leading the Blue Devils to a Final Four berth and collecting a host of ACC and national accolades—Flagg is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick, likely heading to the Dallas Mavericks. That would make his time in the green room the shortest of any prospect.

On Saturday afternoon, the NBA’s official social media account helped introduce the 18-year-old phenom to a wider audience with a brief Q&A video. In just 82 seconds, Flagg talks about his Maine upbringing, his memorable season at Duke, and his admiration for his all-time favorite player, Larry Bird—offering fans a quick glimpse into his journey so far.

As a freshman at Duke, Flagg put up impressive numbers, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He led the 35-win Blue Devils across all key statistical categories, while also posting efficient shooting splits—48.1% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc.
