The Jackrabbits’ QB room just found its spark
The South Dakota State football will have plenty of new faces when they take the field for the opener against Sacramento State.
The portal was not good to them, with so many players following Jimmy Rogers to Washington State. But Chase Mason stayed and was a big reason many others did as well.
And the former Viborg-Hurley standout is thrilled to finally get his chance to be the leader on a team that is still very talented.
Chase Mason, SDSU QB says, “I mean I got a little taste of it in the spring, but it’s better in fall camp now. It’s like the guys are all fully in on this season and it’s just the start button of the season in fall camp. And it’s been fun just being the guy. I’ve had to wait a couple of years but I’m a patient person and I’ve enjoyed every single bit of it.”
Dan Jackson, SDSU Head Coach says, “He’s beyond ready to lead. I think we have the best quarterback in the country, I’m not shy to say that. And Mark (Gronowski) would tell you the same thing. Mark’s a Jackrabbit and loves South Dakota State and he would tell you this is Chase’s turn and he’s ready.”
The Jacks open the season at home against Sacramento State on August 30th. They are either #2 or #3 in all the pre-season polls with NDSU #1.
