The Clemson Tigers have once again made headlines with major news regarding seven key players

The Clemson football program is set to make a significant appearance at the 2025 NFL Combine, with six players invited to demonstrate their talents to NFL teams. This group features linebacker Barrett Carter, defensive tackle Payton Page, safety R.J. Mickens, tight end Jake Briningstool, running back Phil Mafah, and offensive lineman Marcus Tate.

Carter is anticipated to be the highest pick among them, with the potential to be selected as early as Day 2 in April. He will be joined by fellow defensive stars Page and Mickens at the combine, while Briningstool, Mafah, and Tate will represent the offense.

The combine will take place from February 24 to March 3, with on-field workouts starting on February 27. Page and Carter will participate in the first set of drills that day, followed by Mickens and Briningstool on February 28. Fans can catch the action live on NFL Network and NFL+.

Carter is a talent who is likely to have an impact in the NFL, but how significant that impact will be remains uncertain. His development at Clemson didn’t quite meet early expectations, as he was initially thought to be a contender for a first-round pick when he declared for the draft. The combine presents a valuable opportunity for him to enhance his draft prospects.

Briningstool reminds me of Carter in some ways. I anticipated more growth from him, but he certainly showcased a lot of talent during his time with the Tigers. I believe he has the potential to become a starting tight end in the NFL, but it will require patience, as tight ends typically take longer to develop.

Phil Mafah

The 2025 NFL Combine is crucial for Mafah. He had a fantastic start to the 2024 season, which helped his draft stock, but his performance changed dramatically following a shoulder injury. The Tigers’ rushing game was severely impacted, and Mafah seemed far from his former self. It’s hard to believe this won’t affect his draft prospects. He will need to perform well at the combine to improve his standing.
