On Tuesday, the College Football Playoff Management Committee announced that it has selected Baylor’s athletics director, Mack Rhoades, to serve as the chair of the selection committee for the 2025 college football season.

CFP executive director Rich Clark made the announcement, revealing that the management committee has also appointed Mark Dantonio (former Michigan State head coach), Damon Evans (Maryland athletics director), Ivan Maisel (former sportswriter), Chris Massaro (MTSU athletics director), and Wesley Walls (former All-American at Ole Miss) to the selection committee.
Moreover, Steve Weiberg has been invited to return for another year after having previously served on the committee from 2014 to 2017.
Clark remarked, “The inclusion of Mark, Damon, Ivan, Chris, and Wesley will bring valuable new perspectives to the selection committee as we enter our 12th season. Each of them possesses a deep understanding, enthusiasm, and commitment to college football, along with excellent character and integrity. Their diverse backgrounds—from coaching and athletics to academic leadership and journalism—will facilitate a smooth integration with our returning members. We also appreciate Steve’s decision to return for the next season. His insights from his earlier tenure will be an asset to the group.”
Clark also expressed his enthusiasm for Rhoades’ role as chair, stating, “Mack was an exceptional committee member last year, and his personality and approach will serve him well in leading the team.”
Rhoades, who is in his eighth year at Baylor as Vice President and Athletics Director, is one of the most influential and respected figures in the Big 12.
“I’m genuinely honored to be appointed as chair of the selection committee,” Rhoades shared. “It was a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated group last year, and I eagerly anticipate continuing our efforts this fall. Every member of the committee is deeply passionate about college football and committed to maintaining the integrity and excellence of the playoff process.”
