Texas Longhorn And Coach Steve Sarkisian Unveil Another interesting Update, Longhorns’ Is The Team Every Player Wants To Play For, Recently

Landing five-star defensive lineman James “JJ” Johnson was a major recruiting win for the Texas Longhorns.
Johnson flipped his commitment from Georgia to Texas on the same day that both Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart addressed the media at the 2025 SEC Media Days. His announcement gave Texas a significant boost in the Rivals Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
Despite his commitment to Texas, Johnson hasn’t fully closed the door on his recruitment and intends to continue exploring his options throughout the fall.
Johnson shared that he has built a strong connection with the Longhorns and plans to attend their home games this season following his first high school matchup on Saturday.
However, Texas won’t be his only stop. The Miami native is still showing interest in Florida, Miami, and Georgia, and he mentioned plans to attend game days at each of those schools in the coming months.
Both Miami and Florida have kept in touch with Johnson, even though he’s already committed to two different programs this summer. With both schools located in his home state, they have a clear geographical edge that could help sway him as the season progresses.
Johnson also said a visit to Georgia is likely. He was previously committed to the Bulldogs for about three weeks before flipping to Texas, so a return trip to Athens could give Georgia another opportunity to get back in the mix.
Currently, Georgia holds the No. 2 spot in the 2026 recruiting class rankings, while Texas is ranked No. 5. Miami and Florida follow at No. 10 and No. 12, respectively.
Each of these programs will be aiming to impress Johnson this fall, but the Longhorns now face the challenge of holding on to his commitment.
Johnson will balance his college visits with his senior season at Miami Northwestern High School, where he transferred for his final year. This season will be his last chance to refine his game before heading to the collegiate level.
Texas remains in the lead for now, but Johnson has made it clear that his upcoming visits will play a big role in his ultimate decision. Fans can expect to see him in Austin for the Longhorns’ home opener against San Jose State on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.
