Texas Head coach Steve Sarkisian Send Words Of Praise With Great Emphasises After A Successfull Victory

July proved to be a banner month on the recruiting trail for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns. The coaching staff landed several top targets, including five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson and four-star running back Derrek Cooper, outpacing some of the nation’s top programs in the process.
Their success didn’t go unnoticed—Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Gorney named Texas one of July’s top 10 recruiting winners, alongside heavyweights like Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, North Carolina, and Texas Tech.
Gorney highlighted the Longhorns’ impressive reach and momentum:“No one’s recruiting momentum matched Texas in July. Winning over five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson—who had taken more than a dozen trips to Georgia—was a major statement. Landing four-star RB Derrek Cooper over Georgia and Miami, securing four-star CB Samari Matthews over South Carolina, and flipping four-star DL James Johnson from Georgia were all major wins. The staff also shored up key in-state talent with commitments from four-star OL John Turntine and LB Kosi Okpala, aligning perfectly with their local recruiting strategy.”
As the 2025 college football season approaches, the summer recruiting wave is beginning to taper off. Still, Texas plans to stay aggressive, targeting more top prospects with the goal of locking in commitments before National Signing Day in December.
Since taking over in Austin, Sarkisian has shown his prowess both as an offensive strategist and talent evaluator. His ability to attract elite players has played a central role in the program’s resurgence—and if July was any indication, that trend is likely to continue.
