Roster Update: A handful of walk-ons have been removed from the Nebraska roster, as reports indicate

Nebraska made changes to its roster this week as summer conditioning activities commenced.

Sophomore cornerback Ethan Nation is no longer affiliated with the Husker football program, as reflected in Nebraska’s updated official roster at the start of summer conditioning. A Nebraska spokesperson confirmed Nation’s departure from the team.

Nation, a former three-star recruit from Georgia, participated in seven games last season as a true freshman, gradually unfolding his potential towards the end of the season while also contributing as a punt returner.

During his freshman year, Nation recorded one tackle and completed seven punt returns for a total of 23 yards. He initiated his punt return career with a four-yard return against Michigan State, followed by a six-yard return against Maryland and another six-yard return at Wisconsin. In the game against Iowa, Nation managed three punt returns totaling seven yards. It seemed likely that Nation would assume a more prominent role on special teams in his sophomore year.

Hailing from Roswell, Georgia, Nation, a former Under Armour All-American, selected Nebraska over several other offers. In high school, he showcased his versatility as a talented two-way player, accumulating almost 100 tackles and 12 interceptions on defense, along with 1,000 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns on offense.

Nation was the sole scholarship player removed from the roster this week. Additionally, brothers Trevon Kinchen and Javon Kinchen, who joined the team as walk-ons last season, are no longer listed, along with Elkhorn South running back Cole Ballard and freshman fullback Landon Ternus.

In addition to Nation, several walk-on athletes have been taken off the Nebraska roster

Freshman siblings Trevon Kinchen and Javon Kinchen are no longer listed on the roster. Trevon, a 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back, and Javon, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back from Miami, were among those removed from the team.
