Tar Heels, RJ Davis and Caleb Love Receive Another Big news
Invitations for the 2025 NBA Draft Combine were sent out this week, but two former UNC basketball stars were not among those selected. However, they still have an opportunity to earn a spot.
RJ Davis and Caleb Love have been invited to participate in the G League Elite Camp, scheduled for May 9–11 in Chicago, where strong performances could lead to a Combine invite.

If you’re not familiar with the G League Elite Camp, here’s a quick breakdown:
This two-day event gives NBA Draft hopefuls a chance to showcase their skills in front of scouts, coaches, and executives from both the NBA and the G League. Participants go through five-on-five scrimmages as well as strength and agility drills. Based on their performance, a select group will earn an invitation to the NBA Draft Combine later in the week.

Naturally, RJ Davis and Caleb Love would have preferred to be invited directly to the Combine. Still, both will no doubt take full advantage of this opportunity to display their talent and boost their draft stock.
Davis and Love spent three seasons together in UNC’s backcourt, playing a key role in the Tar Heels’ run to the 2022 national title game. Davis remained at North Carolina for all five of his college seasons, while Love transferred to Arizona after his junior year and wrapped up his career there.
Both players had standout final seasons. Davis earned ACC Player of the Year honors and was named a Consensus First-Team All-American. Love shined in the Pac-12, taking home Player of the Year honors and earning All-American recognition as well.
Though some UNC fans still reflect on Love’s departure with mixed feelings, both players left a significant mark on the program and deserve strong support as they chase their professional dreams.
