MILWAUKEE — Willy Adames launched a three-run home run, marking his fourth homer in as many games, as the Milwaukee Brewers secured an 8-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night, extending their winning streak to four games.
Brice Turang also contributed with a home run, while Aaron Civale (3-8) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs to earn his first win in four months. Civale, who joined the Brewers in a trade with Tampa Bay on July 3, had previously gone 0-7 in his last 19 starts.
“The story was Civale,” said Brewers manager Pat Murphy. “He was really good. He threw the ball at the bottom of the zone tonight when he needed to. He was all over the strike zone.”
For the second consecutive game, Milwaukee jumped to an 8-0 lead, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings and adding two more in the third. This follows a similar strategy from Thursday’s 16-7 win over Atlanta, where they completed a three-game sweep.
“We were taking good at-bats before, but we were just missing that little big hit to click,” Adames commented. “In Atlanta, we did it. After that, we just carried on the momentum and brought it here. Hopefully, we can continue to do that, because it’s so much fun.”
Adames kicked off the scoring with a 391-foot homer off Carson Spiers (4-4) in the first inning. This was his 21st home run of the season and his ninth three-run homer of the year, setting a franchise record for most three-run homers in a single season.
Adames nearly hit another home run in the fifth inning, but his fly ball was caught by left fielder Spencer Steer near the wall.
In the second inning, Joey Ortiz hit an RBI double, followed by Turang’s seventh home run of the season, marking his first since June 30. The third inning saw William Contreras hit a single, and Sal Frelick followed with a run-scoring triple, while Rhys Hoskins added an RBI single, extending his hitting streak to 13 games.
Despite going hitless after the third inning, the Brewers maintained their lead thanks to their explosive start.
Civale kept the Reds scoreless until Steer hit a home run to left field to start the seventh inning. Later in that inning, Stuart Fairchild hit a two-run homer off Nick Mears.
Civale finished with 6 1/3 innings, striking out five while allowing two runs, five hits, and two walks. Spiers struck out seven in five innings but gave up eight runs on seven hits and four walks.

Red Manager David Bell announced that the start of IF Matt McLain’s rehabilitation assignment would be postponed due to soreness from a stress reaction in his rib cage. McLain has not played this year as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery. RF Jake Fraley left the game in the fourth inning with a sprained left ankle but is expected to return soon.
Brewers RHP Trevor Megill (lower back) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. LHP Bryan Hudson (left oblique) is anticipated to make at least one more rehabilitation appearance with Triple-A Nashville.
