Talented five-star Cade Klubnik Made Honest Admission for Clemson Regarding Major Decision
Cade Klubnik is set to return for the Clemson Tigers after his most successful season to date.
This accomplishment comes on the heels of a disappointing sophomore year, which had many in the college football community questioning whether he would fulfill the five-star expectations he earned in high school.
However, last season, he proved himself.
Klubnik amassed 3,639 passing yards, threw 36 touchdown passes against six interceptions, and posted a 63.4% completion rate, leading Clemson to another ACC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Now, he’s aiming to elevate his game even further.
“I think I had a solid year last season, but I want to be elite—that means being consistent in every game, every drive, every play. I hold myself to a very high standard, and I’m committed to pursuing that. I focused on making big plays without forcing them and minimizing negative plays, which I improved on last year,” Klubnik shared, according to Austin Hannon of 247Sports.
By all accounts, he succeeded.
In 2023, Klubnik faced challenges with scoring, managing only 19 touchdown passes along with nine interceptions.
His completion percentage remained similar year-over-year, at 63.9% in 2023 and 63.4% in 2024. However, some argued that he was overly cautious at times, hesitating when he should have taken risks and being too aggressive when plays were not materializing.
Like many quarterbacks, gaining experience has proven beneficial, and as he approaches his final season in college football, expectations for Klubnik are soaring.
He is considered a Heisman candidate, and this Clemson offense is projected to be one of the best in the nation when they take the field for their opening game.
High expectations can lead to disappointing outcomes, something Klubnik is familiar with from earlier in his career. Nevertheless, he is dedicated to putting in the effort this spring to avoid such a fate as he wraps up his college journey.
“I’m not just practicing; these are game reps. It has to be like that. You’re either getting better or getting worse,” he emphasized.
Klubnik will have a chance to shine early on a national stage.
Clemson is set to host LSU for their season opener on August 30, giving everyone a chance to see if Klubnik can meet the high expectations he’s created heading into the season.
