Superstar Leads Kansas City Royals to Victory with Three RBIs

Bobby Witt Jr. played a pivotal role in the Kansas City Royals’ 8-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night, driving in three runs. Michael Wacha had a standout performance on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings. The Royals displayed their offensive strength in the seventh inning, featuring Maikel Garcia’s RBI single, Witt’s RBI triple, and Salvador Perez’s two-run homer, which was particularly special as it coincided with the 13th anniversary of his MLB debut.

This victory marked the first time since 2016 that Kansas City secured the season series against St. Louis, with both teams splitting their two-game matchup. Wacha improved his record to 9-6, allowing two runs on five hits and issuing two walks during his outing. Notably, he has excelled at Kauffman Stadium, permitting two runs or fewer in eight of his ten starts this season. Lucas Erceg also made a significant contribution, earning his fourth save of the year.

The Cardinals initially took the lead in the second inning with Paul Goldschmidt’s two-run homer, his 18th of the season, which traveled an impressive 430 feet. However, St. Louis struggled to capitalize on scoring chances, finishing the game with just 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Starting pitcher Andre Pallante completed 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs—one earned—on three hits, while Ryan Fernandez took the loss in relief. Nolan Gorman added two hits for the Cardinals, but their efforts fell short.

Looking ahead, the Royals will enjoy an uncommon day off on Sunday before heading to Minneapolis for a three-game series against the Twins at Target Field. Brady Singer, who has an 8-7 record and a 3.03 ERA, is set to pitch for Kansas City, while Pablo López, with a 10-8 record and a 4.74 ERA, will take the mound for the Twins. Fans can catch the pregame broadcast on SuperStar Country 102.5 and 1530 AM starting at 6 p.m., leading up to the first pitch at 6:40 p.m.
