Edmonton Oilers McDavid Injury Update After Collision with Nurse at Practice
The Edmonton Oilers were on edge Tuesday when Connor McDavid and Darnell Nurse collided during practice.
The Oilers held their breath as captain Connor McDavid left the ice early after a collision with defenseman Darnell Nurse. This incident happened midway through a tense practice ahead of their game against the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Fortunately, head coach Kris Knoblauch believes there is no serious injury to worry about.
During a routine drill, McDavid and Nurse accidentally bumped into each other, causing McDavid to fall to the ice. Nurse quickly checked on him as McDavid got up gingerly and left practice as a precautionary measure.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch addressed the incident afterward, reassuring reporters that McDavid seemed to be okay. “I think he’s doing all right. If he wasn’t, I’m sure I probably would have gotten an update right away,” Knoblauch stated, emphasizing that it was just an accident with no blame assigned.
The Oilers Were Concerned About McDavid’s Status
Knoblauch acknowledged that there was a moment of concern following the collision. “You hold your breath,” he noted. “It wasn’t like two guys chasing into the wall. It was just one guy turning left, the other turned right, and they ran into each other. I think everyone’s okay.”
Given McDavid’s significance to the team, it’s understandable that the Oilers were worried. Nurse shared that concern as well. While McDavid probably left the ice as a precaution, it’s reassuring for both the team and fans to hear that there doesn’t seem to be any significant issue. Any updates will be provided as they arise.
Knoblauch also commented on Zach Hyman’s condition, mentioning that Hyman doesn’t look great after suffering a broken nose, but he doesn’t expect him to miss any time. Hyman sustained the injury when he took a puck to the face during Monday’s game.
For now, the Oilers are focused on their upcoming game against Boston, hopeful that their captain will be ready to lead the team.
