Oklahoma State Cowboys Receives Massive Transfer Portal News

A college football program received some great news on Wednesday regarding the transfer portal. On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Oklahoma State Cowboys defensive back Kobe Hylton withdrew his name from the transfer portal. Hylton originally entered the portal on Dec. 26, two days before the window closed.

This is good news because former Oklahoma State safety Kendal Daniels recently transferred to in-state rival Oklahoma. The Cowboys began the season ranked No. 17 and won their first three games. However, things took a turn for the worse, as they lost their last nine games to end the year at 3-9 under head coach Mike Gundy.

Hylton was a member of the 2019 class and was unrated coming out of high school by the On3 Industry Rankings. The only school that showed interest in him was UL Lafayette.

Hylton has been with five different college football programs. He started with Long Island in 2019, playing eight games with two starts. Hylton then took the JUCO route, heading to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. He spent one season there before heading to Louisiana to play for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Hylton redshirted and did not see the field. Hylton then transferred to UTEP, where he played some of his best football. Hylton recorded 146 total tackles, 11 TFLs, 0.5 sacks and four forced fumbles from 2022-23. After a two-year stint with the Miners, he transferred to Oklahoma State.

He accounted for 40 total tackles, one TFL and one interception this season with the Cowboys. While Hylton withdrew his name from the portal, Oklahoma State has still experienced roster turnover. The Cowboys have gained 20 players from the portal and lost 13. Key portal losses include Daniels, running back AJ Green, safety Kam Franklin and receiver De’Zhaun Stribling. Oklahoma State also lost running back Ollie Gordon II, who declared for the 2025 NFL draft on Dec. 6.
