Senators head coach Travis Green opens on Josh Norris

In an interview with Bruce Garrioch, Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green confirmed that forward Josh Norris is set to fully participate in training camp and is anticipated to be part of the lineup for the beginning of the 2024-25 season.

Green stated, “He’s been a full participant in everything for a while now. The expectations are that he will be ready to go.”

Previously, Norris was placed on long-term injured reserve on March 1 due to an upper-body injury. Last season, he played 50 games, registering 16 goals and 14 assists for a total of 30 points.

He had missed time earlier in the season due to upper-body injuries in October and January, with the March injury specifically affecting his left shoulder. Norris has undergone surgery on that shoulder twice in the past two years.

At 25 years old, Norris was the 19th overall pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2017 NHL Draft but was traded to the Senators during his college career as part of the Erik Karlsson trade in 2018. He made his NHL debut in the 2019-20 season and has spent the last four seasons with the Senators.

Norris is currently in the third year of an eight-year contract with a ** $ 7.95 million cap hit**, which he signed as a restricted free agent in the 2022 offseason.

The Senators’ training camp is expected to commence today at the Canadian Tire Centre and Bell Sensplex.
